Participation in the army manoeuvre "Combined Challenge-06"
The Museum Association was requested to contribute two crewed vehicles
to the army exercise "Combined Challenge -06", with the task to
act as "enemy tanks".
The purpose was to create a more versatile opponent, since the
only other fighting vehicles available to the "enemy" were
the armoured personnel carrier XA 180 (SISU).
Two Ikv 91 from the collection in Strangnas were equipped with
Simfire equipment, "upgrading" the vehicles to T-55 tanks. The
vehicles participated during two days in the "defence" of a
part of Stockholm where the manoeuvre took place.
The commanders were very pleased with our participation, since it
gave the attacking force a stronger than anticipated resistance,
which meant that the manoeuvre was more rewarding for participating
tank crews and unit commanders.
Naturally, the "enemy" tanks were destroyed at an early stage,
so we spent a lot of time doing maintenance on the vehicles.

Offloading during the day before
the manoeuvre

There were long spells of inactivity for us, so we took the opportunity to perform some maintenance

We discovered that the vehicle had
a name - which she lived up to later when we managed to knock
out one strv 122 (Leopard II)

The tank commander took the opportunity to take a snap of the view -
Strv 122 (Leopard II) and Strf 90 (CV 90)
