Malmkoping, July 2007
When the US tractor from WWII was collected from Malmkoping, the transportation of the vehicle collection was commenced. The collection will be moved during the autumn of '07 from the current Military Vehicle Museum to the future museum in Strangnas.

Hauling a heavy tractor

The tractor M26A1, made by Pacific Car & Foundry, is one of the more unique profiles of WWII. During the war it was used by US Army for recovery and for towing tank trailers. In Sweden, after the war, one was used by the Swedish Army in trials, and a very small number were used by the state owned power company Vattenfall for construction work.
With a weight of more than 20 metric tons (45.000 lb) and a six cylinder over head valve engine on just short of 18 litres (1090 cu.in) and the chain drive, and in addition its peculiar looks it still fascinates military vehicle enthusiasts.

As shown on the photo below we had to block all the tracks for the museum's neighbour the Rail Car Museum.

And at last rail traffic can be restored!

But history does not end here; return to this page and pictures from the off-loading will be added - and perhaps soon also some material on how she moves under her own steam again.
