The Swedish Tank Museum celebrates 40 year anniversary in Axvall

The Swedish Tank Museum 40 year anniversary celebration was a great success
Strv 104 and spectators
The audience came in unprecedented numbers

2300 spectators came to visit the museum, this day that offered just enough of sunshine and summer heat. It was not just local visitors, but a large part had come from all over south and central Sweden.

Apart from the main attraction, the vehicle parade, there were also displays of model tanks, catering and souvenirs for sale. The original plan was to run the parade twice, but thanks to the enormous interest, four runs were completed.

The museum is now open until 30 August 2009, at which time it will close and the collection will be moved to Strangnas. The construction of the new museum in Strangnas will begin this autumn, and the inauguration is planned to take place in the spring of 2011.

The organisers wish to thank all the visitors who made the museum 40 year anniversary such a fantastic day!

This wonderful finale of the historic period of the Tank Museum in Axvall is also the beginning of an exciting sequel in Strangnas. More days like this are planned...
