Interesting projects run by others

On this page we publish some information about projects run by others, which we find especially interesting and worth noticing:

The project that means a little more to us

The Museum Association assisted when the Institute of Military History in Prague acquired a tankette AH-IV-S to restore.

Disassembly and assessment of the little tankette is currently in progress in the workshop at the Museum of Military Technology in Lesany outside Prague. The model was for export and was sold to Sweden, Romania, Ethiopia and Iran not a single vehicle remained in the Czech Republic - until August 2006. Watch the progress of the restoration on this site!

The Museum of Military Technology is a part of The Institute of Military History which is a part of the Czech Defence Forces. The Institute of Military History corresponds in Sweden to the National Swedish Museums of Military History (SFHM).

To restore a King Tiger

There was one in Sweden once, but it was thoroghly shot to pieces...

There are not that many King Tigres left in the world, so all the more joy when the ambition is to restore one to running condition again!
The Swiss Military Museum in Full has started a project which every vehicle enthusiast must keep his/her fingers crossed for. To see and hear one of those move under its own steam again must be worth the journey in its own right!
They present an opportunity for anyone who want to get a little more involved than by just keeping ones fingers crossed - by becoming a member of Team Koenigstiger

King Tiger soon(?) in running order

Naturally, they have a site worth visiting, with nice pictures and more details on the different levels of membership in Team Koenigstiger.

What really happened on August 13, AD 1719?

For most, with at least some connection to the Sodermanland Regiment, August 13 is a very special day, still celebrated yearly, namely the anniversary of when the Regiment stopped a Russian expedition from burning Stockholm to the ground. In a narrow strait at one of the waterways into Stockholm, a battle was fought between Russian attackers and Swedish defenders, and thanks to the latter being victorious, Stockholm was spared from the fire - unlike the archipelago which had been burnt down almost in its entirety at that time.

Now professional research is being carried out into the battle! Did the course of events really occur as they are described in the history books? Read about the excavations here!

The Museum Association helps the archeologists by donating funds to the excavation. Do you want to contribute too? No sum is to small to be of use! Make your donation on the association pg 188498-0 and state that it is for the Staket-excavations! (Applicable to residents of Sweden only. Others, please contact the association to find out how to proceed.)

Many thanks in advance!
